  • 3) Where can I get my racket re-strung in Peoria?

    2) Does Champaign sell squash balls?

    Champaign does sell squash balls (at the IMPE reception desk) for $4.

    3) How many different size courts are there?

    The only court with official dimensions at IMPE is court-5. The others are of correct length (front to back wall) but are less wide. Five of them are converted racquetball courts which are 20 feet wide compared with 21 feet for the international size court. Actually the international court $5 and the exhibition court used to be narrow US hardball singles court (18.5 feet wide). One of these former courts was converted to the stretching room, the second one widened to 21 feet and the third one widened to 20 feet.

    In Peoria, the squash court is a converted hardball court which is 18.5 feet, but otherwise correct dimensions.

    9) Where can I get my racket re-strung in Champaign?

    ======================================================================

    There is a person in town, Gary Day, who used to own Center Court tennis shop, which went out of business a few years ago. But he still strings racquets at his house and is extremely good at it. I just called him to see if he still does squash racquets and he says he does. His phone number is 351-1999 and his address is 2308 Phinney Dr., Champaign. He has strung about 30-40 tennis racquets for me and my son and used to do squash racquets for me. He is reliable and very skillful.

    10) Where can I get my racket re-strung in Peoria?

    Contact Bill Happenrath at 256-2672. He strings for the clubs at River City but is also available to string direct.
